Announcing The West Award: Project Los Angeles 2017!
The West Award is generously given by philanthropist and photographer Patrick West to one student for each domestic Project Series: Working with Nonprofits workshop from Momenta.
Patrick West believes in the mission of Momenta to train photographers to work with nonprofit organizations as a viable career or freelance client. Workshops include equal parts photographic training and career/business skills.
This award is for Project Los Angeles taught by Liz O Baylen of The Los Angeles Times, Jamie Rose of Momenta Workshops, Matt Rose of Matt Rose Photography, and is hosted at the beautiful flagship Leica Store and Gallery in West Hollywood, California this coming February 2017. About the Award
Winners receive a full tuition scholarship to a domestic workshop with Momenta Workshops as well as a travel stipend of $500.
Eligible candidates must be United States based, full-time college students currently enrolled at an accredited college or university. Undergraduate or graduate students may apply.
The award committee will be comprised of the generous donor of the award Patrick West & two of the Momenta Workshops founders. Winners criteria are based on the content of their portfolio and their cover letter equally. If you are a new photographer but have a strong passion for photographing social issues, you just might win if your letter is strong enough. So all are encouraged to apply. If you do not win, you can apply again as many times as you like.
How To Apply
To apply, send a cover letter and a link to your online portfolio to our staff email at info@momentaworkshops.com.
The cover letter should explain why you would like to attend a Momenta Workshop and how this workshop will benefit your career goals. Make the Subject: “The West Award: Los Angeles Application.”
The West Award deadline for Project Los Angeles 2017 is Friday, December 9, 2016 at 9 p.m PST.
