Tell us about your journey as an image-maker and how you got to where you are today.
My photographic journey really started in college in the 1970’s followed by a 30 year hiatus for life and career. About 10 years ago, I decided I needed something creative to balance my work world of contracts and corporate transactions, so I picked up a camera again, learned digital, discovered Leica and a love of street photography…… and the rest is history.
What stories or issues are you most passionate about covering?
I think I’m most passionate about street photography. I like to try to capture people in their natural environment and tell their story in a single image.
Where do you look for inspiration for your work: books, movies, authors, photographers, art, certain people?
I’ve worked a lot with Peter Turnley over the years and he’s been a great inspiration and teacher. Others that inspire include Joel Brodsky, Jim Marshall, Edouard Boubat, Martin Parr, Elliott Erwitt and Craig Semetko.
What social media or news feeds do you follow regularly?
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, various podcasts including Around the Lens, Linked In
What is one passion you have outside of photography that might come as a surprise to our readers?
I am a huge classic rock & roll fan…and I decided to learn to play the guitar this year. Anyone going to Desert Trip in October?
What can we expect to see from your “guestagramming” on our Momenta Instagram account?
I’ve made several trips to Cuba over the last three years and I’ll be sharing a selection of images I call “Faces of Havana” .
